Nancy is the daughter of James Barnet and Hannah Enoch. Nancy married John Pottenger on 23 Mar 1826 in Preble County, Ohio. Nancy and John had 10 children.

Abstract from one of three Preble County Newspapers of the time.

POTTENGER, Mrs. Nancy BARNETT, born in Pennsylvania December 15, 1803, parents moved to Ohio when she was 6 months old, located where Middletown now stands. When she was 9, they moved to where New Paris now stands and when she was 16, moved to Camden. married March 21, 1825 to John Pottenger and in the fall moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana. In 1839, they returned to Camden and in 1855 moved to Eaton. She died December 12, 1893, had 6 daughters and 4 sons. Five daughters and 2 sons survive. Widow for 18 years. Lived with daughter, Mrs. Samuel BRINGMAN.
