Shane Austin Morris, 56, of Carmichaels, Greene County, Pa., died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2003, in Carmichaels, following a lengthy illness.

He was born October 28, 1946, in Waynesburg, a son of the late E. Harold "Ace" and Dorothy May (Temple) Morris.

Mr. Morris was a 1964 graduate of Waynesburg High School.

He worked in the parts department of Sun Chevrolet in McMurray and previously worked in the parts department of Bortz Chevrolet and Haney Oldsmobile, both in Waynesburg.

Mr. Morris was the drummer in Morris Brothers Band.

He was a former wrestling coach at Mapletown High School and also had coached youth baseball and wrestling.

Mr. Morris served as a U.S. Navy hospital corpsman in Vietnam.

He received the Silver Star for administering aid to wounded U.S. Marines during a battle in which he was seriously wounded.

He was a member of Oak View United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and Disabled American Veterans, both in Waynesburg. He was a life member of Cumberland American Legion Post 440 of Carmichaels.

Deceased is a brother, H. Donovan Morris.

Interment will be in the Morris Family Cemetery.
