She was a member of the Albion Church of the Nazarene and the Edris Dale Rebekah Lodge in Albion. For years, she was a ballot counter for the Republican Party. She retired from the Erie County Geriatric Hospital in Girard. She also worked in reupholstering and tailoring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Milton Barney, in 1981; a son, Bruce Barney; and a sister, Betty Krauss.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Strong of Anaheim, Calif.; a sister, Alice Sinn of Girard; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Burial was at Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield.
