U.S. Congressman. He was engaged in mercantile pursuits in Flemington, New Jersey and was a Brigadier General of the New Jersey State Militia. He was a member of the New Jersey State General Assembly, (1819, 21, 28, 30) and clerk of Hunterdon County, (1830-40). In 1843, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-eighth Congress, serving until 1845. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as a member of the New Jersey State Senate, (1847-49) and was a judge of the court of common pleas, from 1852 until his death at age 52.
