Mrs. Nelle Whitacre, 74, of 745 W. Main St., died unexpectedly at 1:30 a.m. today at her summer home in Sarasota, Fla. Mrs. Whitacre moved to Decatur in 1964. She had been a life-time resident of the Lovington and Shelbyville area. A member of the First Methodist Church in Shelbyville, she was past worthy matron of the Shelby County Eastern Star and a member of the Women's Society for Christian Service.
She was born Aug. 26, 1890, in Lovington, a daughter of Henry and Catherine Munch. On June 18, 1913, she was married to Ralph Whitacre in Danville.
Surviving are her husband; one son, W. Doyle Whitacre, Decatur; one daughter, Mrs. Leverett Weakly, Shelbyville; two brothers, Marion Munch, Summer, Wash.; Nelson Munch, Jacksonville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
