ADDIE RUTH FORD

ARKANSAS -- Addie Ruth (Cox) McKay Page Ford passed away on September 29, 2011, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas, following a short illness. Born November 11, 1921, in Benoit in Runnels County, Addie Ruth attended schools in Benoit and Ballinger. Her parents were Oscar and Annie (Clayton) Cox. She had one brother, Woodrow Cox, and one sister, Opal (Cox) Montgomery.

She graduated from Ballinger High School in May 1939. She married her high-school sweetheart, Fred Louis McKay, on November 11, 1939, in Grapevine by Reverend Odie Campbell. Jerry Fred McKay was born to this union on September 24, 1942, in San Angelo at Shannon Hospital. David Charles McKay was born March 2, 1947, in Ballinger. All four were members of First Baptist Church in Colorado City. She taught Sunday school for many years in Colorado City and at West Baptist Church in Batesville, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by Fred Louis McKay, Vernon Page, Claibourne Ford; her sons, Jerry Fred McKay and David Charles McKay; her parents; brother; sister; and many close friends.

She is survived by her grandson, Richard Dalton McKay and his wife, Nancy McKay of New York City; her granddaughter, Kathleen McKay Barnes and her husband, Dallas Barnes, of Keller; two great-grandsons, Tyler Barnes and Brice Barnes of Keller; her daughter-in-law, Patricia McKay, of Apex, North Carolina; and step-daughter, Susan Page Allen of California.

A funeral service was held on Monday, October 3, at West Baptist Church in Batesville, Arkansas. She will be buried in Colorado City. A graveside service will be held in Colorado City Cemetery on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2 - 3 p.m.
