Tina Geneva Sorensen was born on June 24, 1907, in Central, Utah. Geneva was the second youngest child of Jensine Nielsen and Niels Christian Sorensen. She had six sisters and four brothers. Brother Peter and sisters Lilly and Sheba died very young and before she was born. Her sister Christine was married before she was born and her sister Amanda got married when she was two years old. Then her younger brother Seymore died when she was age three. She grew up with her sisters Rachel and Lee and brothers Grant and Neil. She also grew up with and knew her nieces and nephews from her sister Christine Anderson who also lived in Central.

In 1915 Geneva's sister Rachel, or Rae, married Louis Schaelling and they settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, where her older sister Amanda Clayton was living. Then during the Influenza Epidemic, Geneva's niece, Evelyn Anderson, who was close to her in age, died in 1917 in Central of Typhoid Fever. Her sister Christine's husband, James Anderson, died in April 1920 as a result of influenza. Then her older sister Amanda Clayton died in 1921 in Salt Lake City.

When she was fifteen, in 1922, her older brother Neil and his two friends left to seek employment in southern California. That left Geneva at home with her parents, older sister, Lee and brother, Grant. Grant died at age 18 from injuries suffered when he was thrown out of a buggy. Then on August 20, 1924, her sister, Lee, age 21, eloped to marry Joe Jensen, age 38, in Salt Lake City.(1)

Geneva was eighteen years old when she met William B Allen from Texas. They lived in Central when her parents moved to Richfield. Then, on July 24, 1926, William B and Geneva Sorensen Allen had baby daughter Loisene. After a short marriage, William left Geneva to go back to his first wife and two children.(2) On October 20, 1927, when Geneva was 20 years old, she married 22 year old Joseph Warren Sandberg and they lived in Richfield and then Central.

In January of 1928, Gene's sister Rae came back to Richfield with her two sons to live with her parents.(3) Their mother, Jensine, was ill and needed assistance. Then on February 21, 1928, she passed away. She was 61 years old.(4)

The family came together again on April 12, 1928, to mark their father's sixth-sixth birthday. Geneva took Loisene and helped her sister Rae and her sons, Gordon and Donald, relocate in California with their brother Neil in El Monte, California. Rae had the intention to stay until she could get settled. Geneva enjoyed it in California, in the prosperous Roaring Twenties, and stayed. Later Warren divorced Geneva for desertion because she didn't come back from California. Geneva probably didn't see a problem with it, because she had been abandoned by William B Allen earlier and her daughter wasn't with Warren. From then on she was called Gene.(5)

In April of 1929, her father married widow Alice Gledhill Bulkley.(6) It was also the year the Stock Market crashed and the beginning of The Great Depression. Geneva met and fell in love with Guy Chester Jack. He was living in Los Angeles and was originally from Logansport, Indiana. So Gene and her little daughter Loisene moved in with him.(7)

Then on October 7, 1931, Geneva S Sandberg, age 24, and Guy C Jack, age 39, came to Richfield to get married. In September of 1932, Gene's oldest sister Christine moved to California to be with the rest of the family. Then in 1933 Guy, Gene and Loisene Jack were living in Del Mar, California. They moved to San Diego a couple of years later. Apparently this was a true and lasting love.

It was in 1934 that her father was diagnosed with cancer. Then on January 16, 1938, N C Sorensen passed away in Richfield after suffering with stomach cancer for four years.(8)

In 1950 Guy and Gene Jack's daughter Loisene met and married James Donald Copeland. They met while he was stationed at North Island NAS. Guy and Gene's only grandchild, Donna, was born in 1949.

Guy died on November 29, 1967, at age 75 in San Diego, California. He was interred in Cypress View Mausoleum in San Diego. Later Gene married a man named Wilson, but the marriage didn't last. Guy was her true love. Geneva Sorensen Jack passed away at age 65 on October 20, 1972. She was interred by her husband Guy. Their granddaughter Donna passed away in 1992.

Notes -
1 - Joe Jensen was seventeen years older than Lee. His oldest sister Caroline married Nels T Sandberg and one of their sons was Joseph Warren Sandberg.
2 - William B Allen's first marriage was to Mary Ethel Coker. They had sons Orville and Gilbert before he left her and met Geneva. Of course William loved Loisene, but his love for Mary and his two sons was stronger over all. William and Mary Allen lived in Santa Monica, California. William Allen worked as a barber in Los Angeles for 60 years. He passed away in 1974.
3 - Currently there is no record of what happened between Rae and husband Louis Schaelling.
He could have been out of work and looking for work because of the Great Depression. He died in 1986. The 1930 Census has Rae and her two children living with her brother Neil and his family in California. Rae later remarried.
4 - Gene's mother Jensine was diagnosed with Erysipelas, an acute streptococcus bacterial infection on the skin. The infection expanded to her kidneys, resulting acute Nephritis and the cause of her death. They didn't have the modern antibiotics that could have cured the infection today.
5 - Warren Sandberg married again in 1934 in California to Verna Jane Garbett. He died in 1996.
6 - Alice Gledhill's first husband, Aaron Bulkley, also died in 1928.
7 - As reported on the 1930 Census. Guy's first wife Essie Langwell had been committed to the Northern Indiana Hospital for the Insane and passed away a short time later. Guy Jack and Essie Langwell were married on 5 Feb 1912.
8 - Alice Gledhill married a third time and died in 1953.
