George A. Pattillo passed away April 4, 1871 and is buried in the family plot at Pattillo's Bluff/Bunn's Bluff, Orange Co., Texas on tne Neches River. George was honored and respected throughout Orange and Jefferson counties. He was a man of unusual abilities and of intellect equal to any person in East Texas. He served the people of his area in many public offices that he neither sought nor desired. After his death, Masonic funeral rites were held over his grave near his homestead at Pattillo's Bluff (now Four Oaks Ranch).
