Annie Coulter was born in Covington County Mississippi. She married a young man, Jabus Slade, she knew from church and together they had a daughter, Estelle Slade (#41709661). While Estelle was still an infant, her father contracted scarlet fever and died. Annie's father, John Coulter, and mother, Ava Coulter, brought Annie and Estelle back to live with them.

A few years later Annie met and married Jacob H Bell. Jacob Bell was born in Covington County Alabama. He traveled and sold horses around Alabama and Mississippi. He met and married the young widow in Covington County Mississippi, and they together had a daughter, Audrey Mae Bell, and a son, John Tweed Bell. Jacob was thrown by a horse and while recovering contracted malaria and died within 48 hours. He was laid to rest in the Louisiana Bivens Cemetery in November, 1915.

After J H Bell died, Annie supported the family by running a boarding house in New Orleans. She married a railroad employee from Laurel Mississippi, Thomas A. Benison, who frequently stayed at her boarding house. Together, they had a daughter, Annie Louise, in 1922. Thomas Benison accepted a position with the railroad out west and was expected to relocate the family once he was settled. He sent letters and money to the family until 1923. Annie Coulter was granted a marital dissolution in 1926 due to abandonment.

Annie met her final husband, Mr. Burns, in 1928. Annie died in 1929 due to complications from a miscarriage and was buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
