He was born on Sept. 8, 1935, in Eureka, Ill., a son of Walter and Caroline Seggerman Jording. He married Margaret Peggy Fehr on July 1, 1956, in Roanoke, Ill. She passed away on May 16, 2009.
Surviving are one daughter, Janice (James) Opila of Edgerton, Wis.; one son, Jeff (Carol) Jording of Clinton, Ill.; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Jared; three brothers, Eugene (Barb) Jording of Eureka, Ill., Richard (Nancy) Jording and Roger Jording, both of Secor, Ill.; and one sister, Sandy (Phil) Amigoni of Eureka, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sue Jording, who passed away Aug. 29, 2011; and one sister, Pam.
Charles had worked at Caterpillar in Mossville, Ill., for approximately 30 years, retiring in 1990 as the supervising manager of the planning department.
He was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and Woodford County Triad, where he had served as past president for both.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. The Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
