US Congressman. He was elected as a Whig to represent Indiana's 4th District in the Twenty-Fifth Congress, serving from 1837 to 1839. His single term was flanked by unsuccessful congressional bids in 1834 and 1838. Dunn was born in New York City. In 1817 he settled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, where he was admitted to the bar in 1822 and maintained a legal practice for the rest of his life. He served as a member of the State House of Representatives (1828, 1832 and 1833), was State Treasurer from 1841 to 1844, and a Circuit Court judge for Dearborn County from 1847 to 1850. Dunn was also one of Indiana's first railway promoters and at the time of his death was president of the Cincinnati & Indianapolis Railroad. His original resting place, Newtown Cemetery in Lawrenceburg, was closed in 1911 and the interments transferred to Greendale Cemetery.
