Robert J. Hockenberry, 65, of Riddlesburg died at 4 p.m. Sunday,
June 11, 1989, at the Bedford County Memorial -Hospital following an
extended illness. Bom in Riddlesburg on Oct. 5,1923, he was the son of
the late Thomas and Laura (Suters) Hockenberry. He was united in marriage
with the former Dorothy Gelwicks on June 16,1943, in Chambersburg.
Surviving are his wife; six children: James. Hockcnberry, Six Mile Run;
Mrs. Allen (Juanita) Kinzey, New Enterprise; Agnew Hockenberry,Chambersburg;
Mrs. William (Carolyn) Bush, East-Berlin; Mrs. Williarn (LaDonna) Sparks and
Bruce Hockenberry, both of Riddlesburg; 10 grandchildren; five step.-grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat- grandchildren. Also surviving are
two brothers, Carl Hockenberry of Mesa, Ariz., and Owen Hockenberry, Clearvilie;
and two sisters, Ruth Williams, Defiance, and Roverda Chamberlain,; Six Mile Run.
Five, brothers and three sisters are deceased. Mr. Hockenberry was of the Brethren
faith. He was a member of the Saxton'Sportsmen's Club. He had been a coal miner
for a number of years until he became" disabled. Funeral services will be held at 2
p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at the Masood Funeral Chapel; D. Ronald Long F.D., Saxton,
with the Rev. Terry Bakner and the'Rev. Dan Diehl officiating. Interment will be in
Sherman's Valley Brethren in Christ Cemetery, Hopewell R.D. 2.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m.
