Allen, Florena G. 1943- wife of Rev. Jack M. Allen∼Florena Gae Allen, age 73 of Upper Tract, WV, formerly of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the home of her sister, Linda Alt in Upper Tract. She was born on July 5, 1943 in Petersburg, WV daughter of the late Opal Gae Vance (11-15-2003) and Dempsey Roosevelt Berg (9-30-1997). On September 6, 1968 Florena married John Martin Allen, who preceded her in death on September 27, 1989.

Mrs. Allen graduated High School in Baltimore, MD and from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC with an Associates Degree in Religious Studies. She also received an Associates Degree in computer programming from Desmoines Community College. Florena had worked at Washington Bible College in Lanham, MD and as a Missionary with Continental Baptist Missions out of Grand Rapids, MI. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, MD.

Mrs. Allen is survived by: 2 daughters, Beth Franklin and husband Darrell, Becky Rose and husband Troy, all of Upper Marlboro, MD; 6 sisters, Linda Belle Alt of Upper Tract, WV, Maxine Marie Mitchell of Georgetown, TX, Shirley Mae Poe and husband Nelson of Petersburg, WV, Pamela Ann Bowser and husband Kenneth of Glenrock, PA, Paula Jane Gatton of Petersburg, Lora Lynn Auville of Petersburg; and 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Franklin, DJ Franklin, Corinna Franklin, Ethan Franklin, Joseph Franklin, Lillian Franklin, Michaela Rose, Noah Rose, and Andrew Rose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: 4 brothers, Randy Roosevelt, Roger Allen, Dempsey Delano, Noah Frederick; and 2 sisters, Joyce Redmond and Eileen Berg.

Mrs. Allen's family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2016, 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg, WV. Funeral services will be on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with DJ Franklin officiating. Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
