Charles William Singleton, age 89, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at his residence.

Charles was born in Livingston County, Missouri, on November 5, 1921, the son of Tom I. and Barbara E. (Fields) Singleton.

On April 15, 1944, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Ferne Grimes in Chillicothe, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2001.

He and his wife made their home in Chillicothe, Missouri, moving from Hale in 1975.

He worked as a farmer and as a cabinetmaker.

He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri.

He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and gardening.

Survivors include sons, daughter, sisters, sister-in-law, seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn Ferne Singleton; brothers Melvin and Dick Singleton; sister Mary Venneman; and grandchildren Corey and Brandy Lynn Oden.

Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home on Friday, April 22, 2011, at 1:30 p.m.

Friends may call Lindley Funeral Home on Thursday, April 21, 2011, from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Burial will be held in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri.
