US Congressman. Elected to represent Indiana's 1st District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1853 to 1857. Also served as a Member of the Indiana State House of Representatives from 1835 to 1840, and 1846 to 1847, being defeated in 1845, Member of the Indiana State Senate from 1841 to 1844, Delegate to the Indiana State Constitutional Convention from 1850 to 1851, and Delegate to Democractic National Convention from Indiana in 1860.
