HUMESTON NEWS
Albert Alphus Pool, son of Ida Jane and Bert Pool, was born at Hopeville, Iowa, October 31, 1892, and passed away at his home in Humeston October 21, 1948, at the age of 55 years, 11 months and 21 days.
On June 29, 1920, he was united in marriage to Rosie May Kalkes at Osceola and they established their home in Humeston. Six children came to bless this union, Helen Irene, Melvin Eugene, Wanda Maxine, Raymond Leonard, Calvin Clifford and Carroll Dean.
Alphus will be mourned by his mother, father, wife, six children, three brothers, Andrew, of Humeston; Herbert, of Baxter; and Roy, of Corydon; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Williams, of Humeston; and Mrs. Alta Booth, of Hopeville, Iowa.
Alphus was a veteran of World War I, having served in Germany in Company L, 161st Infantry of A.E.F. in France. He enlisted in September, 1917, and was mustered out in April, 1919. He was a member of the Humeston Alva F. Eaton American Legion Post No. 306.
In his last illness Alphus accepted Christ as his Savior and has gone to be with Him.
