David Clayton Collier, age 82, of Odessa, died Sun., Feb., 27, 2000 in an Odessa hospital. Services were held Tuesday, February 29 at 10 a.m. in the Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tom Hiser officiating. Burial was held at 2 p. m. in the Loraine Cemetery in Loraine, under the direction of Odessa Funeral Home.

Mr. Collier was born Aug. 12, 1917 in Loraine. He was a resident of Odessa since 1937. He worked for Sunshine Iron Works, Jude Manley Gulf and was a Deputy for the Ector County Sheriffs Department for 21 1/2 years. He served his country in the Army during WW II and belonged to the American Legion, National Rifle Association, Sheriffs Association o f Texas, Colorado City Historical Museum and Sherwood Baptist Church since 1955.

Mr. Collier was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue James and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Collier of Odessa; three daughters, Brenda K. Jamerson of Odessa, Peggy L. James of Blackfoot, Indiana, and Ruth A . Collier of Austin, two brothers, Cecil Collier of Oxnard, California and Douglas Collier of Belton, Texas, two sisters, Alma Brock of Mineola, Texas and Ada Thompson of Odessa, ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
