Walter was a brakeman with the railroad. The Burial Register makes a note that he is Sgt. Lindsay's son. After he retired from the Army Sgt. John Lindsay worked as a clerk at Fort Sam Houston. That is likely the connection that got Walter a place in SANC. The VA Gravesite Locator says he was the "minor child" of Sgt. Lindsay.

Surname is misspelled on headstone. Should be "LindsAy" not "Lindsey."
