Ruth Marlatt Case, 93, died July 31, 2007 at the Chimney Rock Villa at Bayard. Her Funeral will be Aug. 6, at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff. Ruth was born March 22, 1914, in Riverdale, Neb., the daughter of Henry and Arrena (Campbell) Marlatt. At the age of three, she moved with her family to a homestead in Wyoming, two miles west of the town of Hawk Springs, where she was raised and educated. She graduated with the Class of 1932 from the Hawk Springs High School. She then took one year of post-graduate classes and then taught school for several years. Ruth was united in marriage to Carl "Casey" Case, April 7, 1937 in Torrington. They lived in Mitchell for 20 years and then moved to Windsor, Colo. where they lived for four years. In 1962 they moved to Bayard. She worked in the Campfire Girls Organization for six years and was a 4-H leader for four years. She had been active member of the United Methodist Church, had been a member of the Church Board and the United Methodist Women. She also taught the Adult Sunday School for several years. Ruth was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Hawk Springs for 64 years.
Survivors include her son, Charles of Minatare; daughters, Evelyn (Jerry) Arndt of San Diego, Calif., Sharon (Steve) Zitterkoph of Lakewood, CA., grandchildren Todd Lewis and Carl Arndt both of San Diego, Bryan Arndt of Scottsbluff, Christy Manka and Tommy Case both of Minatare, Kirby Case of Gering, Marty Case of Gering, Jennifer Zitterkoph of Lakewood, Calif. and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl in 1978; an infant granddaughter; infant grandson; baby great-grandson; half-brothers, Fred and Ernest; half-sisters, Jessie Dungan and Bessie Truaz; brothers, Glen, Bryan, Loyd, Ray, Bill, Jack and Ervin; and sisters Harriet Howery, Katie Gillespie, Clara Smith and Ethel Troyer.
