parents of Carla, Mark, Janine, DavidDoris Elaine Finnestad Age 78, of rural Minooka passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at home after a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday at the Plattville Lutheran Church with Rev. Bret L. Reedy officiating. Visitation will be held at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St. in Morris on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M.Doris was born February 14, 1928 in Aurora, a daughter of August and Irma (Bretthauer) Lippold. She attended Brown School and graduated from Yorkville High School in 1945. She worked as Secretary for the Kendall Co. Farm Bureau, where she met her husband, Gerald Finnestad. They were married on November 23, 1952.Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Gerald of Minooka; children, Carla (Steve) Taylor of Minooka; Mark (Michelle) Finnestad of Minneapolis, MN; Janine (Mark) Johnson of Minooka; David (Koren) Finnestad of Minooka; two brothers, Virgil (Shirley) Lippold of Yorkville, and Jerry Lippold of St. Louis.She greatly enjoyed the company of her grandchildren: Erik, Benjamin and Jedediah Taylor; Brandon and Matthew Finnestad; Joshua, Rebekah and Zachariah Johnson; Jeremiah, Jacob, Sarah, Josiah, Hannah and Joanna Finnestad; also several nieces and nephews.Doris was active in many community activities: Leader of Plattville Stitch-N-Stir 4-H Club (Kendall Co.), Ladies Auxiliary of Kendall Co., VFW Post 8234, Kendall Co. Homemakers Extension, Kendall Republican Women, Plattville's Stagecoach Gang. Over the years she was an election judge, Avon lady, and did surveys for Prairie Farmer Magazine. She was very active in Plattville Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher, choir member, church librarian and in the PLC Women's group and Faith Circle. She was a great cook and good friend to many.In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Plattville Lutheran Church,Scleroderma Foundation or Joliet Area Community Hospice.Fruland Funeral Home121 W.
