Howard E. Barton, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Pittsfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1980 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Mr. Barton, born Dec. 18, 1892, in Pike County, was a son of Abraham and Cynthia Capps Barton. He first married Mary Cooper, who preceded him in death. He married Maude B. Peters in March 1921. He was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife; a son, Milo Barton of Pittsfield; three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Juanita) Hancock of East Alton, Mrs. Frank (Lois) Seery of Galesburg and Mrs. Myotta Keltner of Springfield; a brother, Clay Barton of East Alton; a sister, Mrs. Nina Main of St. Louis; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Services were held at 2 pm Saturday in Lummis Funeral Home, Pittsfield, conducted by the Rev. Joe Maynard. Burial was in Pittsfield West Cemetery.
