Born in Fayette County, Ohio. Son of John and Mary Fellenstein Baker, natives of Germany. Resident of Marion, Ohio, for 40 years. Circulation manager of the Marion Daily Tribune for 10 years beginning in 1915. Other newspapers he worked for: Columbus Citizen, Lorain Times-Herald,Cleveland News Leader, Akron Beacon Journal and the Youngstown Vindicator. He was a personal friend of Presidents, Harding, Taft and McKinley. Married Ethel Spargur in 1903 in Columbus. Two children, Louise and Sheldon.
