US Congressman. With his father, he was in the undertaking business and other business enterprises. In 1909, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first Congress and to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1917. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his previous business interest, plus served as Postmaster of Buffalo, New York, (1934-47) and as president of the Phoenix Brewery Corporation, until his death at age 79.
