US Senator. An 1895 graduate of Centre College, he practiced law in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, he was appointed a Major in the Judge Advocate General's Department of the United States Army, and was appointed to the United States Senate in 1918 to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Ollie M. James. He did not run for election that year to a full term, but resumed the practice of law in Catlettsburg.
