My beloved Mother. Amelia Elizabeth (Rich) Spurr. Born on May 12, 1916 in Dahlonega, Georgia. She was the daughter of the Reverend Benjamin Harrison Rich, and Gertrude Beatrice (Keath)Rich. She had a sister, Roxie Bell (Rich) Sartin, and 5 brothers. Benjamin Harrison Rich, Jr., Herbert Rich, George Rich, Charles Rich, & Robert Rich. She married my father George Albert Spurr(1.2.3.2.3.3.8) on July 12, 1940. She was the Mother of eight children, Martha Hazel, George Albert, Jr., Elizabeth Amelia, Mary Evelyn, Georgia Louise, Benjamin Harrison, John Anthony, and a male child, stillborn. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in the Elf Community of Clay County, North Carolina. Amelia was a loved and respected member of her community. Mom passed away on August 16, 2003 in Paducah, Ky. at the age of 87. Mom, I can remember part of the words someone wrote in the autograph section of your high school yearbook: "When life's evening sun is sinking low, and your pathway is no longer trod, may your name be written in the autographs of God." I know in my heart that your name is now there Mama. Amelia Spurr, A life well-lived and a God well served. Rest in peace Mama, we all love you and hold that love in our hearts.
