Michael William "Bill" Girscher -
His mother, Katharina "Kate" Girscher, had been born in Zendersch, Mures, Romania. She had married Andreas Gross, on 23 April 1899, in Romania. Together they had two beautiful children. Their son, Georg Gross, born 21 June 1900; followed by a daughter, Katharina Gross, born in 1902. Then in 1906, Katharina "Kate" (Girscher) Gross, immigrated to America; leaving behind her husband and two young children; as she was seeking a better life for herself; with the dream of someday, sending for her children to join her in America. Katharina "Kate" (Girscher) Gross, would settle in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. She remarried, Michael Gierscher. Soon she would have a daughter, Seri Jane "Sarah" Girscher, born 27 November 1907, Monaca, Beaver, Pennsylvania. Followed by a little brother, Michael William "Bill" Girscher, born June 1909, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsilvania. There is evidence of them found in the 1910 Census of Pittsburgh, Ward 25, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, indicating Kate Griesser, 33 years; Sara, 2 years; Michael, 10 months, living in an orphanage. Seri Jane, and her brother, Michael, did live in an orphanage, Home Friendless Babies, 1415 Porterfield, directly across from Allegheny General Hospital. Here, it would seem their mother was employed, to remain nearby. In the 1930 Census of Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, Catherine Gircher, 53 years; Sara Gircher, 22 years; Jacob Piffer, boarder 28 years; with no indication of Michael William Girscher.
*******************
At the marriage of his sister, Seri Jane "Sarah" Girscher, to Emil George Froehlich, he signed his name on the marriage certificate, as a witness, William Girscher, along with his spouse, Elsie May Girscher, on 23 August 1939, in Los Angeles, California. However, no marriage record has been found for Michael William Girscher and Elsie May Eggen. Sadly, for his family, he just one day, disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again. According to family lore, it was believed that he may have removed to the great state of OHIO. His death and burial are unknown.
