US Congressman. He was elected to represent Indiana's 1st District in the United States House of Representatives to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Alvin P. Hovey, and served from January 29, 1889, to March 3, 1889. Posey obtained his law degree in 1869 and practiced in Petersburg, Indiana. He interrupted his law practice when elected to the congressional seat. After serving the short term, he resumed his law practice in Evansville, Indiana and also served as its surveyor until 1913. Posey died in Rockport, Spencer County, Indiana.
