Kimberly Hammond Rice, 44, of Hayden and formerly of Blountsville died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at UAB Hospital.

Mrs. Rice was born in Blount County to Jimmy Hammond and Judy Millwood Hammond Nolen. She was married to Jerry Rice.

She was a 1985 graduate of J.B. Pennington High School, graduated from Auburn University in 1990, and was an electrical engineer for U.S. Steel in Birmingham. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hayden.

She is survived by her husband: Jerry Rice of Hayden; two daughters: Mackenzie Rice of Hayden and Kristy Keenum of Oak Grove; granddaughter: Madison Keenum of Oak Grove; parents: Judy and John Nolen of Blountsville and Jimmy and Dennis Nell Hammond of Oneonta; brother and sister-in-law: Randy and Stacy Hammond of Blountsville; two stepbrothers and sisters-in-law: Jay and Angie Nolen and Eric and LeaAnn Nolen of Blountsville; two stepsisters and brothers-in-laww: Lori and Mike Criswell of Oneonta and Lissa and Rusty Hales of Florida; and grandmother: Martha Millwood of Blountsville.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Pete and Lillian Hammond and Tillmon Millwood; and aunt and uncle: Sue and Dan Putman.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Hayden with Jeremy Powell officiating. Burial was in Rock Springs Cemetery with Blountsville Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers were Bob Hiros, Paul Thomas, Jeff Akers, Andy Hosmer, Bobby Epperson and Ed Phillips.

Honorary pallbearers were Liz Adams Deuel, Jana McPherson, Gina Broadstreet and Renae Chency Thompson.
