Sara Margaret Wolfe Barr, 93, a lifelong resident of Franklin, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Ill., following medical complications resulting from a broken hip. Mrs. Barr was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Franklin and a choir member there for many years. She also participated in St. Monica's and St. Anne's Guilds. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was active in music in the community. She sang alto in the Choraliers and participated in several shows and community performances with that group as well as with a barbershop music group. Sara was a founding member of the Franklin Civic Operetta Association, along with her brother, Roy, and served on the board as well. She was considered a director emeritus of the association.

Following the death of her husband, Evans Robinson Barr, Mrs. Barr worked in the records room at Franklin Hospital and eventually became supervisor, prior to her retirement. In recent years, she has been active in several ladies bridge groups in the Franklin area. Sara will always be remembered for her sunny disposition and ever-present smile.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sarah Daisy Wolfe and William Oscar Wolfe, Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by five brothers, William Roy, Sidney Paul, Harry and Harold (twins) and Robert Oscar Wolfe.

She is survived by a sister, Shirley W. Grandelis of Franklin; a daughter, Susan B. Olchak and her husband, Richard, of Mt. Airy, N.C.; a son, James R. Barr and his wife, Ardath, of LaGrange Park, Ill.; three grandchildren, John R. Olchak of Los Angeles, Calif., James A. Olchak of Raleigh, N.C., and Laura K. Gibbons of Brookfield, Ill.; two
great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Jimmy Gibbons; five nieces; six nephews; and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Franklin with the Rev. Holly A. Davis officiating. Interment will be made in Franklin Cemetery. A reception to greet the family will be held in the parish hall of St. John's following the committal. The Huff Chapel 312 W. Park St., Franklin, is in charge of
arrangements. The family suggests donations be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 1145 Buffalo St., Franklin, 16323, or a charity of one's choice. Online condolences may be sent at
