"Patti" was a professional journalist. Additionally, she served as Village Clerk, an elected position. She enjoyed civic work and did what she could to advance the community in which the family made their home. She wrote for the local daily newspaper and served as secretary for the public school board. Patti was a troop leader for scouts. While her children were in school, she was active in the local school Parent-Teacher Association. She could be counted on to help with activities at the school, to bake for classes, provide transportation to ball games, and other school related activities.

Lebanon, Missouri held a special place in Patti's heart. Educated and experienced as a journalist, Patti especially enjoyed the writing of the newspaper that had been published and edited by her family.
