"Funeral Services Are Held Here For Pioneer Resident"
Funeral services for Louis Bird Norton, 87, who died at the Gila county hospital after a month's illness Monday night, were held from the Jones Funeral Home chapel Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Thomas Bishop of the First Christian Church of Christ officiating.
Burial was in the family plot of Pinal cemetery.
Mr. Norton, who was born in Springfield, Mo. March 7, 1852, had been a resident of Globe for 63 years. He and Mrs. Norton, who died Sept. 13, 1929, observed their 68th wedding anniversary two years ago.
A contractor by profession, he had been retired for 25 years. He served as court bailiff in the Gila county superior court for some time.
Surviving are four sons, Louis A. Norton, St. George, Utah; Jon F. Norton, Payson; Walter H. Norton, Globe; and D.O. Norton, Phoenix; one daughter, Mrs. W.O. Andry, El Cajon, Calif., and two brothers in Oklahoma.
