David Ray Stephenson, born in California July 6, 1948 to Lonnie Stephenson and Donna Ruth Cheves, a long time resident of Wendover, Utah/Nevada, left this mortal existence on Dec. 1, 2010, due to an automobile accident near Montello, Nev. He was the second and last child born to Lonnie and Ruth. He lived in California for the first several years of his life near many of his relatives. He and his parents moved to Tooele in 1962 when his father was transferred from the Benicia Arsenal in Benicia, Calif., to the Army Depot in Tooele. Dave attended high school in Tooele. After high school Dave moved to Wendover and stayed there from that time on, that is surely due to the fact that his close friends were around him there. While in Wendover Dave worked for the casinos as well as the railroad for 17 years. In his youth he was involved in baseball and scouts. In his youth he played the guitar in a band with friends. He continued to play the guitar through the years, playing in bands with his closest friends. Dave was also a talented woodworker, another talent he continued to use through the years. Dave married Donna Penrod (later separated) with whom he had one child, Jason Douglas Stephenson who was born in 1970 and passed on in 1972. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Preceded also by his faithful companion "Deuce." At the time of his passing Dave was helping run a business in Montello, Nev. He is survived by his sister Donna (Owen) Peeler (of Vernon, Ariz.), nephew Paul Peeler (of Tooele), niece Sarena (Heath) Price (of Queen Creek, Ariz.), great nephews Brandt McNeill and Jarren McNeill, friend and companion Cherie Clark (of Montello, Nev.), other extended family members including a fond aunt of his Delma (Reggie) Rangel (of Grants Pass, Ore.), aunt Bobbie (Gene) Cheves (of Turlock, Calif.) many, many other close and cherished friends and acquaintances, including his closest friend, brother if you like, Steve (Cheri) Richey (of Wendover, Nev.) and Malin Green (of Salt Lake City). Services have been coordinated through Burns Mortuary of Elko, Nev. and Tate Mortuary in Tooele to whom we pay a very heartfelt thank you. A memorial service was held at Tate Mortuary in Tooele on Monday, Dec. 6 and interment at the Tooele City Cemetery. His family wishes to thank any and all who have helped, assisted and supported the family and his closest friends under the circumstances. It takes a village, we are all family and interconnected is some way and we are all dependent on one another and greatly indebted to one another. We who have been blessed to be a part of your life Dave, have been truly blessed indeed. May God bless you and keep you Dave
