Winston H. Gillies, of Lindon died Monday, Aug. 8, 1983 in American Fork.
He was born Dec. 4, 1916 in Vineyard, Utah a son of Joseph Smith and Cora Nell Williams Gillies.
He married Donna Richins on August 1, 1936 in Vineyard. The marriage was later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Manti Temple.
She died Feb. 22, 1981. He then married LaNeve S. McCandless May 22, 1982.
He attended schools In Vineyard and Orem. He was member of the LDS Church, living in the Lindon Fifth Ward where he served as a High Priest.
He worked as a butcher, a barber and at Geneva Steel for many years as a foreman.
He was a veteran of World War II, when he served in the army. He was a member of Provo Eagles 2924. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and worked at Charlie's Trout Creek at Strawberry Reservoir for several years.
He is survived by his widow of Lindon; two sons and a daughter: Darrell W. Gillies, Lindon; Lynn Joseph gillies, Fairfield; Mrs. Leonard (Margene) Tantee, Las Vegas, 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters; Howard Gillies, Kearne, Don Gillies, Lindon; Mrs. Helen Bergfelder, Orem; Mrs. Michael (Thelda) Vicchrilli, Pleasant Grove.
Funeral services are Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Lindon Fifth Ward Chapel. 600 W. 100 S. Friends may call at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 S. 300 E. in Pleasant Grove, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. or Thursday at the church one hour prior to services.
Burial in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
