KAUKAUNA MAN IS KILLED AS HE TOUCHES WIRE

Lineman Electrocuted by 132,00 Volt Wire Near Forest Junction

Kaukauna—Clarence Conrad was electrocuted about 2:30 Friday afternoon when a wire he was holding came in contact with a live wire carrying 132,000 volts of electricity. The accident happened about 1 ½ miles south of Forest Junction where the Hoosier Engineering Co. is stringing wire on the new power line recently built from Milwaukee to Twin Falls, Mich. Mr. Conrad hired out as lineman with the engineering company not quite two weeks ago. At the time of the accident Mr. Conrad had just come down to ground from off one of the high towers and with the aid of a team of horses he was engaged in pulling slack wire over a fence from off a reel. One man was up on one of the towers at the time. In some way unknown to the men working there a wire came in contact with one of the "hot" wires and Conrad having the wire in his hand received the full shock. He was killed instantly.

He was taken to his home in Kaukauna Friday night.

The new power line was built by the Hoosier Engineering Co. of Indianapolis last year and at that time one man was electrocuted near Chilton. The headquarters for the company while in this part of the state is at the Grand View hotel in this city.
