Vernelle Cora Custer, 90, of Kilgore, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 in Longview, Texas.
Mrs. Custer was born June 4, 1921 in Corsicana, Texas to the late Patrick and Blanche Martin.
Vernelle grew up in Corsicana and was a graduate of Corsicana High School. She moved to Kilgore in the early 1930's. She was a faithful and devoted Baptist. Vernelle was a wonderful cook; who also enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Custer is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Don and Patsy Custer and Tommie and Karen Custer; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends.
Mrs. Custer is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Thomas Ray Custer who passed away in 2010; one son Thomas Ray Custer, Jr.; a sister Emily Ratliff and two brothers Glen Martin and Robert Martin.
