March 29,1897-May 00,1982

Luella Viola Wagner, daughter of Henry Wagner and Lucy Classen was born March 29, 1897. She was born in a sod house on the family homestead about five miles north and west of Bristow, Nebraska. She had four brothers, Otto, Henry Jr., Jacob and William. She attended school at Bristow, Nebraska in 1917 and Grand Island business college. Luella was married to Axel Edwin Anderson, son of Charles Anderson in 1927. Axel was born June 16, 1896. Their son Alvin Axel was born June 18, 1928. The family lived on the Wagner Homestead until 1930. They bought some Indian land 12 miles south of Mission, South Dakota. Here they spent the rest of their lives. Son, Alvin Axel is still living there. Aunt Ella, as we called her, loved flowers and took great care in raising them. She also did beautiful crochet work and made many quilts. One of Uncle Axel's hobbies was painting pictures. They also had their own little band playing for neighborhood dances. Axel played the violin and Alvin played the piano accordion. Alvin served in the army during World War II. Axel passed away with cancer on October 14, 1953. Luella's brother Jacob came to live with her and Alvin, in 1959, spent the rest of his life there. Luella passed away May 17, 1982 and Jacob passed away July 1, 1994. They are all buried at Valentine, Nebraska.
