Painter. He was a Western-style painter and primarily active in the Independent Art Society of Japan. He suggested Japonism and created the new forms of graceful landscapes and still lifes with traditional Japanese decorative art. Many of his works are on display at the Ohtani Memorial Gallery in Nishinomiya City.
