Our "Bull of the Woods", Bud Lang Sr., hung up his chain saw and went home to rest Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the age of 102 ½. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and loyal companion, otherwise known as "The Little Fella". Burnell was born August 8, 1916 to Charlie and Barbara Lang in Sandpoint, Idaho. Education was important to "Ma" and a favorite story is one of Bud being "switched" back to school after attempting to accompany his father to the logging camp. He excelled in school receiving numerous academic awards. He also was an impressive baseball player. Following high school graduation, he traveled to Seattle to work for Boeing at a job that extended through WWII. While there, Bud trained Rosie the Riveters to take the place of men sent to active duty. Later, he returned to Sandpoint where he married his soulmate, Zoa Ruth Van DeMark. Together they raised three children: Louise Wheelbarger, Kathy Doyle, and Bud Lang Jr. In addition to raising a family, they shared a passion for gardening, the forest, and Fords. These were also enjoyed by many family members and dear friends who were considered family. Bud concluded his logging days at the age of 69, even then only partially retiring until he was 90 years old. An avid reader, he developed a keen interest in Rolling Stone, never missing an issue. A history and news buff he remained committed to the nightly new, always found in his rocker tuning in at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Bud had an unmistakable twinkle in his eye and a contagious smile. A kind and generous spirit, he left an unforgettable impression on friends, family, neighbors, and even strangers. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and sisters, his daughter Louise, grandson Ralph, son-in-law Art Corothers, and his Sweetheart Ruth. He is survived by Kathy (Jerry) Doyle, Bud (Donna) Lang, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Per his request, no services will be held. Please sign Bud's guestbook and leave your condolences for his family.
