Lawrence L. Batta, 86, of Lafayette, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at St. Mary's Healthcare Center in Lafayette.

He was born in White County to the late Anthony B. and Elizabeth Halsema Batta. He was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 6 sisters.

He married R. Janette McCain in Lafayette on Jan. 11, 1947. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Marilyn King (husband: Robert) and Teresa Riehle (husband: John), both of Lafayette; four sons, Larry Batta (wife: Janet) of Lafayette, Steve Batta (wife: Tammy) of Reynolds, Jeff Batta (wife: Janet) of Lafayette and Doug Batta of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
