Marie P. Oyer, 91, Eureka, formerly of Roanoke, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Monday (Oct. 3, 2011) at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka, where she was a resident.

Memorial contributions may be made to Metamora Mennonite Church or Maple Lawn Health Care Center.

She was born on July 20, 1920, in Livingston County, a daughter of Silas D. and Amanda May Stalter Birkey. She married Wilmer "Bud" Oyer on Feb. 15, 1944, in Flanagan. He passed away on July 27, 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Carolyn Kutzner; one infant sister; and two brothers-in-law, Paul Springer and Joe Birky.

Marie worked at Schrock's Grocery in Roanoke for many years. She also volunteered at the Et Cetera shop in Eureka for over 20 years and belonged to the Woodford County Home Extension for nearly 50 years.

She was a member of the Metamora Mennonite Church.
