Dr Brown graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor of arts in 1948 (as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society) and from Stanford Medical School with his M. D. in 1953. He served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943-1946. His training in had surgery came under Dr. Sterling Bunnell, acknowledged as the "father of hand surgery" and Dr. L.D. Howard. Dr Brown was a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the Western Orthopedic Association and the Royal Society of Medicine. He as a lover of plains, trains and automobiles. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, the Honorable Mary Delanty Brown, Mayor Emerita of Ross, Calif.; son, Tyler A. Brown of Great Falls, VA; his daughter, Robin L. Brown-Frossard of Grattavache, Switzerland; his grandchildren, Helen Brown, Tyler A. Brown Jr. Jade Frossard, Jonathan Frossard and Alizce Frossard; and his faithful dog, Beau.
