Mrs. Gertrude Wettstein, a former Chilton, R. 1 resident, now residing at The Homestead in New Holstein, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday at her home at the age of 81.

She was born Aug. 8, 1884 in Marshfield, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Klapperich. She married Simon Wettstein on May 26, 1902, at Kloten. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stockbridge and the Christian Mothers Society.

Survivor include three sons, Gregor, West Bend, Arno, Escondido, Calif., and Rudy, Stockbridge; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Strobel, Weyauwega; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Martha Steffen, Alto.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and one daughter.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Erbe-Hoffman Funeral Home, Chilton. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church, Chilton. Rev. Donald A'Hearn officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Jericho.
