Mr. Wakefield and his brother, W. W. Wakefield founded Wakefield's Clothing Store in Anniston in 1922.
He was a Mason and member of Parker Memorial Baptist church and the Baraca Sunday School class for more than 50 years.
He was survived by wife, the former Jewell Morton, son Dr. Robert Wakefield of Marietta, and daughter, Mrs. Harry Whitten. Survivors also include 2 sisters and a brother.
(Wakefield's is still in business in Anniston, still run by a family member!)
