MRS. HARRIET E. MUCK.
Harriet Emilene Whelan was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, March 28th, 1845. When eight years old she moved with her parents to Greencastle, Ind., where she lived a number of years. From there she moved to Springfield, Ohio, then back to Greencastle, from which place she came to Kansas in 1884.
On November 18th, 1886, she was married to George Philip Muck. From this union two children were born, Ruth E. and Roland P. The latter died when eight years old. The death of the father had taken place two years prior to this time. Mrs. Muck had therefore been a widow for a good many years.
Mrs. Muck joined the Methodist church at Greencastle, Ind., when she was quite young and had lived a constant Christian life up to the date of her death which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Machin, five miles south of Council Grove, on April 27th, 1921. The cause of her death was pneumonia.
Mrs. Muck left to mourn her loss her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Machin, with her three children, Donald, Lois and Marjorie; four sisters, Mrs. Sanford Paris, of Dighton, Kansas, Mrs. Augusta Paris, of Dodge City, Kansas, Mrs. Alice E. Muck, of Clay Center, Kansas, Mrs. Florence Eslinger, of Kinsley, Kansas; two brothers, A. W. Whelan, of Indianapolis, Ind., and M. W. Whelan, of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
The funeral was held at the home of her daughter Thursday morning at 10:30, in charge of Rev. Oliver C. Bronston, of Council Grove. The interment was made at Dorrance, Kansas, where the body was laid alongside that of her husband and son.—The Daily Guard, Council Grove.
