Sandlin Rites Held

Funeral services for S-Sgt. Harlan Sandlin, 24, veteran of World War II, were held at Addington Chapel, July 23 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W. R. Parker and S. A Morgan conducting. Interment was in the church cemetery, Moss-Service directing. The local VFW post conducted graveside rites.

Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Sandlin, Bremen 1; one brother, Shular Sandlin; Three sisters, Mrs. Ozela Vandiver, Mrs. Lorene Sandford and Mrs. Evelyn Bates. The deceased was killed May 12, 1944, in England.

member of the Joseph Sharper crew which took part in Operation Eagle on 12 May 1944. After successfully completing the practice jump, the aircraft collided with C-47 42-92679 on the return journey. Crews reported a large explosion and a bright flash. All members of the crew were killed in the accident.
