Although there is not a middle name or initial on his birth certificate, on his Social Security Application and on California Railroad employment records his middle name is listed as Ansel - his son's name however IS Gordon Alan Self - but they are not Sr and Jr - unless perhaps they are listed in the same reference with just the middle initial A. - just to clarify them. Also, on all records that I find, his date of birth is the 31st rather than the 21st.
