US Congressman. Born in Waynesboro, Georgia, he moved with his family to Texas in 1859 and settled in Milam County eight years later. After graduating from the University of Georgia at Athens in 1874, he was admitted to the bar and established a legal practice in Cameron, Texas, his home base for the rest of his life. His career in Milam County included stints as district attorney (1876), district judge (1886), and a term on the County Board of Aldermen (1890 to 1892). Antony was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second Congress, representing Texas's 9th District, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Roger Q. Mills; he served from June 1892 to March 1893. Defeated for reelection, he returned to his law practice in Cameron.
