DAVIS, LEORA ANN (CLARK) – (1844-1923) – RESPECTED WOMAN OF ODELL EXPIRES AFTER LONG ILLNESS - Mrs. Edgar C. Davis, age 79 years, one of the most highly esteemed women of Tippecanoe County, died at her home at Odell Wednesday night at midnight. She had been an invalid for several years. The deceased was born near Stockwell, May 3, 1844. She was educated at the old Stockwell academy and on April 19, 1865, was united in marriage to the late Edgar C. Davis. To this union was born six children. An infant daughter, Elva C. Davis, and Mrs. Minnie Baugh, preceded them in death. The surviving children are Mrs. Lou Sayers, of Wingate; Clarence Davis, of O’dell; and Miss Keltah Davis, who resided with her aged mother. One brother, Lester Clark, Battle Ground, also survives. Mrs. Davis was a refined and cultured woman and for almost fifty years had been a devoted member of the O’dell Methodist church. She was deeply interested in all things for the betterment of the community. The funeral will be held from the family home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
