Francis L. Bates passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 89, born on November 7, 1921 to Guy and Mathilda (Christophersen) Bates in Bellingham and was a life long residence. He married Lillian Norby on December 25, 1941. Francis enjoyed playing Santa and was a member of the Lion's Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian, two daughters, Carol M. Mumm and Karen M. Bates. Francis is survived by four children: Bruce F. Bates, Rev. Eric F. Bates, Michael F. Bates, and Heather M. Koppenheffer; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October, 7, 2011 at Moles Funeral Home, Bayview Chapel, with a private graveside service at Enterprise Cemetery.
