LaJane E. Stender age 85 of Young America passed away Saturday July 16, 2016 at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted.
Funeral Service Wednesday July 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with Rev. Eric Hutchison officiating; visitation Tuesday July 19, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service ALL AT THE CHURCH; interment Crow River Cemetery in New Germany.
LaJane Emma Elisabeth (Schuettpelz) Stender was born on April 23, 1931 in Camden Township, Carver County, MN the daughter of Harold and Florence (Unglaub) Schuettpelz Sr. She was baptized on May 17, 1931 by Rev. Rolf at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany. LaJane was confirmed in the faith at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer on March 25, 1945 by Rev. Schwandt. On March 26, 1949 LaJane was united in marriage with Gordon A. Stender Sr. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by Rev. Schwandt.
After her marriage to Gordon, LaJane lived in Young America. She had worked at Struttwear, Tonka Toys and Bongards Creamery. LaJane enjoyed going to movies, dancing and country music. She loved traveling, especially the trip to Germany and time spent at Paul Lake near Perham.
LaJane loved the outdoors and visiting the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. She was always interested in family history and would enjoy spending time walking through cemeteries. She was a strong, private person with great faith. LaJane will be remembered as the "rock" of the family. She cherished her sons and their families.
LaJane was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Florence Schuettpelz Sr.; brothers-in-law Bob Koehler, Howard Stender, Jerry Doheny; special aunt Gusta Dummer; former husband Gordon A. Stender Sr.; many other family and friends.
LaJane is survived by her loving family: sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Elaine Stender of Norwood, Bruce H. Stender of Hallandale, FL, David Stender of Delano, Douglas and Carol Stender of Young America, Gordon Stender Jr. of Young America; grandchildren Jeremy and Linsey Stender and their children Willow and Kylie; Joel and Laura Stender and their daughter Evelyn, Jason and Tammy Wetzell and their children Joshua and Ashlee, Nathan and Annette Stender and their children Owen and Ian Melissa and Mike Miller and their children Isabella, Mason and Owen, Brandon and Beth Stender and their children Hailey and Payton, Jeff Stender and his children Mya and Abby, Jenny and Dan Cebulla and their children Whitney and Kelsey, Jackie Schauer and her son Eric, Julia Stender; brothers and sister Harold (Jeanette) Schuettpelz Jr. of Watertown, Gerald (Shirley) Schuettpelz of Glencoe, Merrilyn Koehler of Rockford, Steven Schuettpelz of New Germany; great aunt Darlene Unglaub of Watertown; sisters-in-law Marlene Doheny of Excelsior, Paulette (Harvey) Kostecka of Young America, Claudette Zellmann of Young America; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers are her sons Bob Stender, Bruce Stender, David Stender, Doug Stender, Gordy Stender Jr.; brother Steven Schuettpelz.
